Sighnaghi is the oldest place in Kakheti region and the status of the city was given just two hundred years ago. Nevertheless, settlements are found here from the ancient times. It was restored in 2007. The tourism infrastructure has been developed and after that, the city is becoming more and more attractive to visitors. Sighnaghi is located in the mountainous terrain, due to this fact the beautiful panoramic views of Alazani Valley can be seen. The city is surrounded by a 4 km long fortress wall which was built around 200 years ago. It has got 5 gates and 23 towers.

The Bodbe Monastery or the monastery of St. Nino is an Episcopal complex in Kakheti. The Georgian kings were always attentive towards the monastery and it has been repaired many times.
