Svaneti, a breathtaking historic province in Georgia, is located on the southern slopes of the Caucasus mountains. Due to the severe climate, there are only a few permanent inhabitants living there. Svaneti is placed between snow-covered hill-tops that are 500-3000 meters(and higher) above sea level. The administrative centre is called Mestia which is located 1500 meters above the sea level.

Mestia is Mestia's administrative centre. It is characterized by cold winters and short summers.There you will meet different buildings of the medieval period.
Enguri Dam is the largest hydroelectric dam in the Caucasus and is located on the river Enguri. Its arch dam was granted the status of a cultural monument of national importance.

Ushguli consists of 4 villages: Zhvibiani, Chibiani, Murkmeli and Chazhashi. Here you will find a lot of sights: Ushguli Archaeological Museum, Church of the Savior, Saint George Church, etc.
Mikheil Khergiani was a famous Georgian alpinist. There you will be able to see various exhibits which are connected to Svaneti and Mikheil's life: clothes, furniture, icons and so on.

Svneti Museum of History and Ethnography was established in 1936. It has got the richest exposition. The museum's collection includes: archeological and ethnographic materials, icons, manuscripts, etc.
Margiani's house museum was owned by the Margians. It is well-preserved. The complex consists of a residential house with all its equipment, tower, cellar, etc.
